Biography

Margo grew up near the rocky beaches of Puget Sound outside Seattle. She was raised in a household where, as a young child, she was often lulled to sleep by the sounds of a jazz band rehearsing in the living room. At age 13 her mother smuggled her into a Seattle nightclub so that Margo wouldn't miss seeing the great jazz organist Jimmy Smith.

After a few years living in the San Francisco Bay Area ("not enough rain!") and in Europe, Margo returned to the Pacific Northwest to put down her roots. And years later, her own young daughter, too, napped to the soothing sounds of her mother rehearsing with a jazz band in their living room.

Margo has performed in the Northwest for over 20 years. She also has strong connections with the San Francisco Bay Area music community and loves performing there with such jazz luminaries as guitarist Chris Grampp, violinist Julian Smedley and their combos. Besides jazz combos, she has also sung in Irish, country/western, and swing bands. But her main love remains the jazz standards that she grew up with, as evidenced by her debut CD, Love You Madly, and her upcoming CD, Chemistry.
